WWII Army Medical Impressions

Pictures below, are a tribute to Major Larry Shea, founder and leader of WWII Army Medical Impressions Inc. Every year, twenty to thirty friends get together to participate in a week-end of USMD reenactment. Thanks to Larry's knowledge and equipment, spectators can witness volunteers patients journey through a WWII field hospital, from admission to surgery and recovery.

A young wounded soldier is check by a nurse on arrival. Who could resist to such a group of charming nurses ...
My greatest privilege, assisting Larry during laparoscopic surgery. Surgery could not look more realistic, thanks to Larry's simulated wounds
Patient is recovery in the post-op area. One of many tents, here a post-op ward tent

Normandy 2004 Celebrations

The 60th D Day Anniversary was an opportunity for several USMD collectors and reenactors to gather in Normandy. Below are pictures taken in Vierville sur Mer (Omaha Beach.

This is a view of my original WWII hospital tent, set-up a quarter mile from Omaha Beach. I set-up the tent with all the equipment I have collected over the years ...

Across the street from us, the GI 44 Reenactment Group presented the most comprehensive camp I have ever seen, including two USMD tents ... ... with a very realistic diorama.
Our son's contribution to this page ... ...
